Sonic XG, aka Sonic eXtended Genesis, is a Sonic the Hedgehog fangame created by Sir Euan and Nitemare, which was in development since 2004. The final public demo of the original game was released in 2007 and only contained two zones.
On 24th September 2021, a trailer for the revamped Sonic XG was released on Twitter, with updated new graphics. The full game was released in July 2023.

Trivia[]
The original version of the game was intended to contain ten levels - after the two present in the demo, would be levels named Peak Panic, Wood Works, Resort Run, Desert Dash, Cosmic Chasm, Golden Gate, Chaos Central, and a then-unnamed final level. Several of these are intended to be added in the fan continuation, though Golden Gate was replaced with Cyber City and Hydro Haven was added.
